The Exhibition. With three different components, The Review of Religions exhibition provides a unique interfaith perspective and interactive experience for guests.
The first component will discover how 1400 years of interaction along the Silk Road created unique and stunning forms of Islamic art, calligraphy and identity - from Persia, China and beyond. There will be an exquisite collection of early copies of the Holy Qur’an and other relics, organized by The Review of Religion’s head of special collections, Razwan Baig. Razwan Baig will also be running workshops and seminars covering the changes in Islamic calligraphy and the diverse materials used to pen these works of art. The second component is an extensive exhibit of the Turin Shroud, including a rare life-size replica of the Shroud as a visual aid to tell the story of the crucifixion. brought by Pam Moon, a Shroud expert. This year’s conference holds a special significance as 2018 marks the 40th anniversary since the first ever scientific examination was performed on the Shroud - by STURP (Shroud of Turin Research Project). Finally, guests are able to participate in a unique interactive experience: the Al-Qalam project. Founded by Razwan Baig and officially launched in 2016, this ambitious project allows each guest to pen one verse of the Holy Qur’an in Arabic. This will lead to a unique document highlighting the diversity of all—men and women, young and old, black and white and is open for people of all faiths. Since its official launch, the Al-Qalam Project, in collaboration with The Review of Religions, has travelled across the world. The unique and historic project is now nearing completion. This year’s Annual Convention will thus see the completion of a truly historic project in the history of Quranic calligraphy. |
