By the inkstand and the pen and by that which they write
                                            - The Holy Qur'an, 68:2

THE HISTORIC PROJECT
One person, one verse.
A Qur'an that recreates the ancient art of Islamic Calligraphy while highlighting the modern-day diversity of Islam.
Penning the Word of GOD
Picture

The Al-Qalam Project is a first of its kind that aims to produce a unique copy of the Holy Qur'an: one in which each verse has been penned by a different writer, and thus the complete text of the Holy Qur'an will be entirely written by members of the public, thereby celebrating the fact that many diverse people can unify behind the teachings of the one book.

The Al-Qalam Project has proved to be a truly influential initiative, bringing together people of different countries and faith which in essence is the very purpose of this Holy book.

About The Al-Qalam Project

The Al-Qalam Project was founded by Razwan Baig and officially launched by the worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Khalifah (Caliph), His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (aba) in 2016. Razwan Baig is a British Islamic calligrapher and a collector of Islamic manuscripts and Islamic art. His collections have been shown in over several major museums worldwide and has contributed to more than 20 international exhibitions.

Since its official launch, The Al-Qalam Project, in collaboration with The Review of Religions, has travelled across the world, most recently to India, Canada and Germany. The unique and historic initiative is nearing its completion and will be returning on all three days of the Annual Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Comunity UK, where the project was first introduced.

A Unique Project

Picture

WHY

The Al-Qalam project aims to produce a unique copy of the Holy Qur'an: one in which each verse has been penned by a different writer, thereby celebrating the fact that many diverse people can unify behind the teachings of the one book.

LEGACY

In the age of rapid technological advancement, writing may not be valued as much as before. Modern forms of communication such iPads and tablets are being preferred to traditional forms of artistry. Therefore, one of the inspirations behind this project is to bring back the art of writing. Under the supervision of an expert calligrapher anyone wishing to participate in the historic Al-Qalam project can do so without any experience of calligraphy.

BE INSPIRED

The Al-Qalam project brought people together in showing their love for the Holy Qur'an. One of the inspirations behind this project is to bring back the art of writing. Under the supervision of an expert calligrapher anyone wishing to participate in the historic Al-Qalam project can do so without any experience of calligraphy. Another unique feature of this project is that it is open to people of all faiths as the Holy Qur'an is the word of God for the whole of mankind.
