THE REVIEW OF RELIGIONS
INTERNATIONAL SHROUD
CONFERENCE

2018

NOTE ABOUT REFERENCES
For the ease of non-Muslim readers, the letters ‘(as)’ after the name of all Jesus is an abbreviation meaning ‘peace be upon him’ derived from ‘Alaihis salatu wassalam’ which are words that a Muslim utters out of respect whenever he or she comes across that name. The abbreviation ‘(ra)’ stands for ‘Raziallahu Ta’ala anhu and is used for Companions of a Prophet, meaning Allah be pleased with him or her (when followed by the relevant Arabic pronoun).  Likewise, the letters ‘(aba)’ after the name of His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad is an abbreviation meaning ‘may Allah be his helper’

2018 Turin Shroud Exhibition

The exhibition centres around a life-size replica of the Turin Shroud, argued by some to be the actual burial cloth of Jesus (as), used after the crucifixion.
Building on the success of the 2015, 2016 & 2017 exhibitions, The Review of Religions is pleased to host once again a life-sized replica of the Turin Shroud, and the Tomb of Jesus at this year’s annual convention in Alton, Hampshire.
2018 Marks 40th anniversary Since The First Ever Scientific Examination of The Shroud by STURP

In 1978, the Shroud of Turin Research Project (STURP) conducted the first ever scientific examination on the Shroud of Turin.

Now 40 years later, are we any closer to the truth about the Shroud of Turin? The Turin Shroud Exhibition by The Review of Religions along with the Shroud academics and experts from across the globe will find out the answers.

During the three days of the exhibition, visitors will have a chance to speak to Shroud experts from USA, ITALY, SPAIN & UK.

30 Years Since the Carbon Dating

When the Shroud of Turin was carbon dated a series of protocols were put in place to make sure the date would be definitive.

Carbon dating in 1988,said the Shroud was a fake
 - but was the sample from a rewoven section? - but were the results reliable?

The panel of experts will discuss the carbon dating results of the Shroud in this years exhibition.

Brand New Feature Added To The Exhibition

Picture
A journey telling a story of young innocent Mary (ra) oblivious to the world focused only in the worship of God only to suddenly be told that she is with Child. News of expecting a child is usually a joyous moment for parents the expectant mother is supported by family and friends even after the birth of the child. Instead Mary (ra) was alone and frightened, what did she do? Where did she go? How did Mary (ra) endure the days ahead of her?

Come along and discover the facts and explore how Mary (ra) eventually became one of the most respected and revered women to be known in History.

The exhibition does not feature the colourful images or famous paintings, or icons depicting our beloved Mary (ra) Mother of Jesus (as). Divided in eight thematic sections, the exhibition will take our visitors on a journey back in time. Following a trail of Mary’s (ra) life from before her birth until after the crucifixion of Jesus (as).
Prophet Jesus (as) honoring his pious Mother Mary (ra).

‘And He has made me dutiful toward my mother, and He has not made me haughty and unblessed. ‘And peace was on me the day I was born, and peace there will be on me the day I shall die, and the day I shall be raised up to life again.’ Such was Jesus, son of Mary. This is a statement of the truth about which they doubt.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (aba), Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Comunity, said:

‘Mary's elevated status is reflected by the fact that the Quran says that true Muslims should develop the qualities of Mary and if they do so then they will be those who never cause harm or suffering to anyone. Every Ahmadi Muslim therefore seeks to instil within themselves the purity, nobility and piety of Mary herself.'

THE REVIEW OF RELIGIONS INTERNATIONAL SHROUD CONFERENCE 2017

An annual conference organised by The Review of Religions to bring together scholars from around the world to talk about the Shroud of Turin - an extensively researched relic in the history of Christianity. The Shroud is a most debated strip of cloth which appears to bear an image of Jesus (as), one of the most well-known religious figure in history.

With a lineup including historian Mark Guscin, photographer Barrie Schwortz, and scholar Bruno Barberis, the shroud conference covered various aspects of the Shroud of Turin.

An honourable and learned scholar of Christianity from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, who had travelled from Rabwah, Pakistan, Mir Mahmood Nasir Ahmed, also attended the Q&A. Mir Mahmood Nasir Ahmed has led the team of researchers working on experiments to try and re-create the image of the Shroud upon a cloth through coating a living body with a special ointment, known as the ‘marham-i-Isa’ or ‘Ointment of Jesus’, and bringing this body in contact with the cloth.

This ointment was highlighted by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, in his treatise, Jesus in India in 1899, and described as the ointment applied to the wounds of Jesus (as), following the Crucifixion.

Mir Mahmood presented a copy of his research and samples of the ointment to all the esteemed speakers.
